Hi, My name is Alli and I began teaching swim lessons ten years ago with my two sisters Patsy and Molly. Our small business has traveled via word of mouth all over Mankato and the surrounding area, we are very proud of what we have accomplished. Molly has since become a nurse and Patsy has started her family. The summer of 2011 I will once again be on my own for lessons.
I am a certified water safety instructor with the American Red Cross' Learn to Swim Program. This unique program can be found almost anywhere. It differs from the YMCA because it stresses the importance of children learning to be on their own right away and not relying on flotation devices. I seek to achieve the very best swimmers. My program is even more unique because I set my own high expectations.
Along with teaching lessons with my private business during the summers, I taught lessons with the University of Minnesota-Duluth's Recreational Sports Outdoor Program Aquatics Department from 2004-2008. I even served as Head Water Safety Instructor from 2006-2008. I taught lessons at the Mankato YMCA and did some private lessons on my own at the AmericINN pool up by MSU Campus during the summer and school year between 2008-2009.
I also enhanced my certifications to include Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor Trainer. This basically means that I can teach a Lifeguarding course to anyone over the age of 15 and Water Safety Instructor course to anyone over the age of 16.
I love teaching children to swim. My favorite levels to teach are the beginner levels because the student may go from an inability to swim one day to swimming on their own across the pool the next. The remarkable changes that can be seen are amazing. Most of all though, I receive my own feelings of achievement when my students succeed, no matter what their age!
