Please remember to email me your top three choices for weeks and times when you register. I will pencil you into my calendar and email you back what I have available. Only after I receive an email from you confirming the dates and times, will your name become permanent.

As always, preference is given to returning families. Any new families are placed on my waiting list and are allowed to register two weeks after the above registration date.

I thank you in advance for your patience on the date of registration. I get many emails at once, and answer them in the order they appear in my inbox. I will spend registration morning working on returning emails, as well as subsequent evenings, however I must also attend to some school-work at the same time. If you have not received an email from me, please try to send your email again or call after 3 days.

Thank you once again for your continued interest in my program, I look forward to working with you and your children again this summer.

Swimming Lessons Summer 2011

Hello Everyone,

I have started to get some inquires about swim lessons this summer. Swim lessons have been my life since I was 16 and 10 years later it is hard to say goodbye- so I am doing the best I can to work out some type of availability for the summer of 2011. Vet school is keeping me busy, so sorry if my replies take long to get back to you.

This summer I really do not know what is in store for me just yet. I am trying to get a research project in Vet medicine. The two places I looking into are Vancouver, Canada or East Lansing, Michigan.

If I get my research grant for Canada- I will HOPEFULLY be able to have 3 weeks of lessons before I head out there. The weeks will be between June 13- July 1.

If I do not get this research grant I have already been accepted for the research program here at vet school in MI. If this is the case, I will be unable to do any swim lessons in MN this summer.

I will keep you posted on my summer plans, as soon as I have more information.

Hopefully this email will reach you early enough so that you are able to register for other swim programs offered in Mankato and the surrounding area this summer, if you wish to do so.

I will suggest the program offered through Community Education because I know that their instructors are certified through the Red Cross like me. The YMCA does not require their instructors to be certified. My neighbors have done lessons the past couple of summers, but they too are not certified instructors. I am not sure of the quality of lessons/instructors offered at the Mankato Golf Club, nor about the lessons offered at the Lake Crystal Rec Center.

The Red Cross offers a high quality program with particular criteria for their students to master before moving onto other levels. Instructors that are certified from the Red Cross have obligations to look for these criteria. Keep in mind though, it is my opinion this does not represent the quality of some of the instructors I have worked with- some people are certified and do not make very good swim teachers, whereas others who are not certified make the best teachers I have had the privilege to work with. For me having an instructor with the certification gives me some piece of mind that MY students are receiving similar lessons that correlate well with the material they have already learned.

Please email with any questions or concerns about this summer. I have a record of all my swimmers and their current learn to swim levels.

Thanks again for all your support. It has been such a pleasure to work with you and your children!
